Crumbly with a mild fresh acidity

Delivery/Collection info
Cheshire cheese has a crumbly texture and a mild fresh acidity, Applebys Red Cheshire cheese is made using vegetarian starter culture with annatto added to the unpasturised milk to add the gentle red colour.  The cheese is cloth bound and matured for six months giving it a light, salty flavour and moist, crumbly texture.

Cheshire is Britain's oldest cheese, dating back to Roman times and mentioned in the Doomsday Book. The Appleby family are one of the true cheese making familys of the Great Britain with Lance and Lucy Appleby awarded MBEs for their services to cheese making in Shropshire, in 2001.  They officially started making their own cheese in 1952 but had always been involved throughout their early lives.  Now second and third generation Applebys are involved in the business and are committed to making the cheese by the traditional methods that gives us such a wonderful Edit Edit Edit Poduct to sell.

A half of a Red Cheshire is a great base to a small wedding cake as it gives height, or if you're looking for a little less, a quarter is about a 6cm high circle. Team it with a Cashel Blue and you're on your way to a great stack!

Red Cheshire dimensions: Width 21cm x Height 6cm for a quarter, 12 cm for a half, 24cm for a whole cheese
