from 246 reviewsI always go back to Perl Las from Caws Cenarth. Made from organic cow’s milk, it has a creamy yet slightly crumbly texture, with a strong, tangy flavour perfectly balanced by subtle earthy notes. Even people who aren’t usually fans of strong blue cheese find this a go-to. It’s versatile too — excellent on cheeseboards, in cooking, or paired with sweet wines, port, or rich beers. Always a firm favourite that stands out with character.
Little Hereford from Monkland Cheese Dairy is a hard farmhouse cheese that’s quickly become a cheeseboard favourite. Not a traditional Cheddar, it’s a cross between Caerphilly and Cheddar, made from raw cow’s milk and matured for 4 months. It has a slightly crumbly texture and a medium-strength, full-bodied flavour — nutty, tangy, and satisfying with every bite. Perfect on its own or paired with crusty bread, crackers, apples, chutney, or a crisp cider. Bold, distinctive, and always a hit with cheese lovers.
The texture is beautifully creamy without being too runny, and the flavour is mild, buttery, and slightly tangy. I loved how the edible rind added a gentle earthy note without overpowering the cheese itself. It feels indulgent but still approachable — even friends who don’t usually go for strong cheeses really enjoyed it.
It’s always a firm favourite on a cheeseboard and pairs perfectly with fresh crusty bread, crackers, and a crisp white wine. I’ll definitely be buying this again.
Ordered this for a party and it was very impressive, delicious and well received by guests, Best cheese ever !!!
Perfect party piece for special dinner party… with just the right amount of left overs!
One of the nicest cheeses I have tasted, all the cheeses we have brought from the mousetrap have been excellent. we have brought from their Ludlow shop and online. Superb.
My wife and I have tried Spenwood on a couple of occasions now and have decided we prefer it to something like a goats cheese. Its subtle nutty flavour goes well with other milder cheeses on a cheese board. I can recommend this.
So glad I picked this for my Christmas cheese board, it was fabulous
Enjoyed by all our guests - many positive comments
Reblochon was not available but I was given an excellent replacement fleur des alps which we enjoyed just as much.
We love this shop, staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Even though we are not local and over an hour away we will use again and again
A lovely mild blue, fantastic for a cheese board
Best Brie I have tasted, soft mellow flavour with creamy texture, lovely
