Keens Cheddar Cheese, Somerset Farmhouse Cheddar cheese
Keens Cheddar Cheese, Somerset Farmhouse Cheddar cheese
Keens Cheddar Cheese is a lovely artisan cheddar. Medium mature Keens Farmhouse Cheddar is made in Somerset by the Keen family who have been making cheddar since they moved to Moorhayes Farm in 1899. The milk from their own herd which grazes on the farm's grassland travels no further than 50 yards to the dairy and is kept in its raw for for cheese making. The cheese is artisan made, firstly pressed and bathed in hot water for 3 days to ensure the cheddar crumble, then matured for 12mths, hand turned every now and then. Keen's cheddar has won many awards including the UK supreme champion at the world cheese awards in 2013 and no wonder, it's full of flavour, has a nice bite, with a firm but smooth texture.
